Breaking ground on a custom home build on Daniel Island

We recently broke ground on a new custom home on Daniel Island, in partnership with the wonderful Herlong Architects + Interiors. Despite the chilly weather, it was a beautiful day and meaningful milestone for our team and clients.
We’re looking forward to entering the build stage and turning months of planning into visible progress. This site also comes with a pretty great bonus: waterfront views we’ll get to enjoy as the home takes shape.
For those less familiar with the Charleston area, Daniel Island isn’t always on the initial radar, but it’s worth stepping back to talk about why Daniel Island continues to be one of the most desirable places to build and live in the Charleston area.
A Community Designed to Be Lived In
Daniel Island was designed with everyday life in mind. Streets are walkable. Parks, trails, and water are woven throughout the community. Homes, schools, shops, and restaurants are close enough that you can actually use them without getting in the car every time. There are plenty of outdoor activity options for biking, walking, golf, and tennis.
That layout makes a real difference day to day. Kids can bike to friends’ houses. Morning walks feel natural rather than forced. Running errands or meeting neighbors doesn’t require planning around traffic.
One of Daniel Island’s biggest strengths is its location. It’s close to downtown Charleston, Mount Pleasant, and the beaches, but removed enough to feel calm and residential. You get quick access to major roads and employment centers without the density or congestion that comes with more urban areas.
For many homeowners, that balance is the appeal. You’re connected, but not surrounded by it.
A Strong Sense of Place
Daniel Island has clear architectural standards, which helps protect the long-term character of the community. Homes are thoughtfully designed, lots are well considered, and streetscapes feel cohesive without being repetitive.
From a homeowner’s perspective, that consistency matters. It supports property values and ensures that the neighborhood will age well over time.
Built for Long-Term Living
Between schools, recreational amenities, medical access, and community events, Daniel Island works for a wide range of life stages. Some people move here for young families. Others come for a slower pace with easy access to Charleston’s cultural and dining scene. Many stay longer than they initially planned.
It’s a place with a great community feel where people tend to put down roots, not just pass through.
Looking Ahead
We’re excited to see this new Daniel Island home take shape and look forward to sharing progress as construction continues.
